Our Story
Forager's Fancy began long before it became a business. As a ten-year-old growing up in Essex, founder Danny Moore spent autumn weekends walking hedgerows with his father and brother collecting wild sloes for homemade sloe gin. Those childhood adventures sparked a lifelong fascination with Britain's wild food and the incredible flavours that could be found growing naturally in the countryside.
Years later, Danny transformed that passion into Forager's Fancy, relocating to the Wirral and creating a business centred on responsibly foraged ingredients. What started with traditional sloe gin soon evolved into an ever-growing collection of artisan products including wild garlic salts, infused oils, vinaigrettes, cordials, spirits and liqueurs, each inspired by the changing seasons and the abundance of the British landscape.
Experimentation remains at the heart of the business. Danny continues developing new recipes using wild botanicals, often working alongside long-time friend John to test ideas before introducing them to customers. By making use of different parts of each plant, from leaves to flowers, Forager's Fancy continually finds new ways to celebrate Britain's natural larder while wasting as little as possible.
Today, Forager's Fancy continues to expand its range while remaining true to the original inspiration: transforming responsibly foraged British ingredients into distinctive artisan food and drink that encourages people to appreciate the countryside in a completely new way.
Meet The Team
Forager's Fancy was founded by Danny Moore, whose love of foraging began in childhood while collecting wild sloes with his father. Those early experiences shaped both his appreciation of nature and the direction of his future business.
Now based on the Wirral, Danny combines extensive knowledge of wild British ingredients with a creative approach to artisan food production. His enthusiasm extends beyond making products, regularly leading foraging walks, giving talks and helping others discover the edible plants growing around them.
His aim is not only to produce exceptional food and drink, but also to inspire people to reconnect with nature through responsible and sustainable foraging.
How It's Made
Every Forager's Fancy product begins outdoors, with carefully selected wild ingredients gathered responsibly from the British countryside. Seasonal availability shapes both the recipes and the range, ensuring each ingredient is harvested at its natural best.
Back at the Wirral workshop, these botanicals are transformed into small-batch artisan products including flavoured salts, infused oils, vinaigrettes, spirits and liqueurs. Danny continually experiments with new combinations while respecting traditional preservation techniques and allowing the natural flavours of the ingredients to shine.
Nothing is wasted where possible. Different parts of the same plant are used across multiple products, with leaves, flowers and berries each finding their place within the range.
Sustainability
Sustainability is central to Forager's Fancy. Ingredients are ethically and responsibly foraged, with careful attention paid to protecting natural habitats and only harvesting what can be sustainably replenished.
The business also makes full use of many plants by creating different products from different parts of the same ingredient, helping to minimise waste while celebrating the versatility of wild British botanicals.
