Our Story

Eco Gin was created with a simple but ambitious goal: to prove that exceptional gin could also be significantly more sustainable. Rather than following the traditional route of distilling from grains such as barley or rye, the founders challenged themselves to rethink the entire process from the ground up.

After researching alternative crops, they turned to peas as the foundation for their spirit. Unlike conventional cereal crops, peas naturally fix nitrogen in the soil, reducing the need for artificial fertilisers and lowering the environmental impact of production. This decision became the cornerstone of the Eco Gin philosophy.

Developing the recipe meant balancing sustainability with flavour. The team refined the botanical blend and distillation process until they produced a premium gin that delivered the clean, crisp character expected from a quality craft spirit while staying true to their environmental values.

Since launching, Eco Gin has continued to champion sustainable distilling, demonstrating that innovation and great taste can go hand in hand while inspiring conversations about the future of environmentally responsible spirits.

Eco Gin - our story

Meet The Team

Eco Gin was founded by siblings Ciara Beckett and Daniel Beckett, who wanted to challenge traditional spirit production by creating a gin with sustainability built into every stage of its development. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

Their vision was not simply to launch another craft gin, but to demonstrate that thoughtful agricultural choices and innovative distilling could reduce environmental impact without compromising on quality or flavour.

How It's Made

Most gins begin with a grain spirit made from cereals such as barley or rye. Eco Gin takes a different approach by fermenting peas, creating a base spirit from a crop that naturally enriches the soil and requires significantly less artificial nitrogen fertiliser. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}

After distillation, the gin is carefully infused with its selected botanicals to produce a clean, balanced flavour profile. Production by-products and spent botanicals are repurposed into organic fertiliser and returned to a local farm, helping to create a circular production system with minimal waste. :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}

Sustainability

Sustainability is the driving force behind Eco Gin. By using peas instead of traditional cereal grains, the distillery reduces the need for synthetic nitrogen fertilisers, lowering carbon emissions while helping improve soil health and reducing nutrient runoff into waterways. :contentReference[oaicite:3]{index=3}

The distillery also returns its fermentation by-products and used botanicals to a local farm as organic fertiliser, creating a circular economy that minimises waste and supports regenerative agriculture. :contentReference[oaicite:4]{index=4}

Eco Gin's long-term ambition is to demonstrate how innovative farming and distilling techniques can help transform the environmental impact of the spirits industry. :contentReference[oaicite:5]{index=5}
