Our Story

The Honey Project began in 2019 when founders Laura and Ed set out to create a different kind of honey brand — one that would not just sell honey, but actively give something back to nature. The idea came after Laura worked on a branding project for a large honey company and realised there was an opportunity to create a business with a stronger focus on provenance, sustainability and protecting pollinators.

Determined to create a more transparent approach to honey, Laura and Ed spent years researching the industry, learning about beekeeping and searching for a British honey that reflected their values. They wanted customers to know exactly where their honey came from and how it was produced.

Their search led them to Holt Hall Apiary in Tamworth, Staffordshire, where the bees forage on the surrounding countryside. Working with experienced beekeeper Matthew, they created a single-origin British honey range that celebrates the natural flavours of the landscape.

The Honey Project's mission goes beyond honey. For every jar sold, the company helps rewild areas of Britain by planting wildflowers, creating more habitats for bees and other pollinators. Their ambition is to inspire people to reconnect with nature while enjoying exceptional British honey.

The Honey Project - our story

Meet The Team

Laura and Ed are the founders of The Honey Project. Their journey began with a shared belief that business could be a force for positive environmental change.

Laura brought experience from the branding world, where she became increasingly aware of the opportunity to create a honey brand focused on authenticity and giving back to nature. Ed shared her vision and encouraged them to build their own company centred around bees, biodiversity and British honey.

Together they developed The Honey Project into a purpose-led food brand that combines great tasting honey with a commitment to restoring wildflower habitats and supporting pollinators.

How It's Made

The Honey Project's honey is produced from hives managed at Holt Hall Apiary in Tamworth, Staffordshire. The bees forage across the surrounding countryside, creating a single-origin British honey with flavours shaped by the local landscape and seasonal flowers.

Their Unrivalled Runny honey is a summer honey created from a blend of wildflowers, producing a light floral flavour and naturally varied character from batch to batch.

Because the honey is natural and minimally processed, it may crystallise over time. This is a natural sign of genuine honey and can easily be reversed by gently warming the jar.

Sustainability

Sustainability is at the heart of The Honey Project. The company believes honey can be a vehicle for restoring nature and helping protect declining pollinator populations.

For every jar purchased, The Honey Project helps rewild 100 wildflowers through its partnership with conservation organisations. These wildflower habitats provide valuable food sources for bees, insects and other wildlife.

By sourcing honey locally from Tamworth and keeping its supply chain close to home, the company also reduces unnecessary transport miles while supporting British beekeeping.

Awards

The Honey Project has received recognition for its innovative approach to British honey and its commitment to sustainability.

  • Recognised as a purpose-led British honey brand supporting rewilding and biodiversity.

The company has also gained attention from independent retailers and food communities for combining premium honey with measurable environmental impact.
