Grounds For Good was founded in 2021 by retired NHS Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Rosie Oretti, inspired by a simple question: what if used coffee grounds could have a valuable second life? Based near Cardiff, the business works with local cafés to collect spent coffee grounds that would otherwise end up in landfill.

Grounds For Good was founded by Dr Rosie Oretti, who retired after more than 30 years as an NHS Consultant Psychiatrist before combining her scientific background with a passion for sustainability and social impact.
Working alongside local partners, independent cafés and researchers, Rosie continues to develop innovative ways of repurposing spent coffee grounds into products that benefit people, the planet and the wider community.
How It's Made
Grounds For Good collects waste coffee grounds from independent cafés and hospitality businesses across Cardiff and South Wales. Rather than allowing this valuable natural material to go to landfill, the grounds are carefully processed and transformed into premium products including botanical spirits, gourmet food, beauty products and homeware.
Any surplus coffee grounds are diverted to anaerobic digestion, where they help generate renewable energy. This circular approach ensures that every coffee ground has the opportunity to deliver environmental, social and economic value.
